Wedding Guest Limit in India Latest Government Wedding Guidelines 2021

With COVID spreading even more than last time numbers, breaking records with respect to the number of people infected on a daily basis, curfews and regulations are in place yet again. This time however, rather than a national lockdown, we are looking at state governments putting strict measures and curfews into place, and there are also new COVID guidelines for weddings. If you had your wedding planned for the month of April or May, then we understand there might be a lot of uncertainty and tension regarding how to go about things. What are the new government guidelines for weddings in India? What's the wedding guest limit? Are there any COVID banquet guidelines? - We are sure all these questions might be arising, and perhaps, causing stress. We are here to answer all those questions to the best of our abilities and sources!

Wedding Guidelines in Delhi

  • Delhi has a daily night curfew timing from 10 PM to 5 AM, which is currently implemented till April 30.

  • As fas as new wedding guidelines during COVID are concerned, there is a wedding guest limit of 100 people in closed spaces and 200 people in open spaces before 10 PM and after 5 AM. 

Wedding Guidelines for Mumbai & Maharashtra

  • Till April 30, 2021, weekend weddings are a no go unless you get permission, with a weekend lockdown from 8 PM on Fridays till 7 AM on Mondays.

  • Only 50 guests are allowed in wedding ceremonies; wedding restrictions to be decided locally.

  • There is also Section 144 imposed on weekdays from 7 AM to 8 PM wherein movement or a gathering of more than 5 people isn't permitted in public. 

Wedding Guidelines for Bangalore & Karnataka 

  • Section 144 imposed in Bangalore (movement and gathering of over 5 people not permitted)

  • Only 50 people will be allowed celebrations while socially distancing in closed spaces and 100 in open spaces, 100 people can be allowed with social distancing and wearing masks.

  • All star hotels and restaurants across the state have been directed to stop late-night parties.

  • Party halls in apartments and residential complexes to be closed.

Wedding Guidelines for Punjab

  • There is a daily night curfew in effect from 11 PM to 5 AM. Night curfew applicable in Ludhiana, Mohali, Patiala, Jalandhar, Kapurthala, Hoshiarpur, Fatehgarh Sahib, and Nawanshahr districts.

  • The maximum number of people allowed in a gathering is capped at 20 currently.

Wedding Guidelines for Chandigarh

  • There is a daily night curfew in effect from 10 PM to 5 AM, indefinitely implemented for now.

  • No gatherings are allowed in curfew hours. 

  • Only 100 people or 50 percent of the capacity (whichever is lower)  will be allowed celebrations while socially distancing in closed spaces and 200 or 50 percent of the capacity (whichever is lower) in open spaces, while keeping precautions in check.

Wedding Guidelines for Gujarat

  • There is a daily night curfew in effect from 8 PM to 6 AM across 20 cities in the state, which is currently implemented till April 30, 2021.

  • The maximum number of people allowed in a gathering is capped at 100 currently.

Wedding Guidelines for Rajasthan

  • The maximum number of people allowed at a wedding ceremony is currently capped at 100.

  • District Magistrates can impose night curfews but they will be required to seek the government's permission for imposing curfew before 8 PM or after 6 AM.

  • Videography of the ceremony will be done by the wedding organizer and will be made available on demand by the concerned subdivision officer.

Wedding Guidelines for Haryana

  • The maximum number of people allowed at a wedding ceremony is currently capped at 200 for indoor ceremonies and 500 for outdoors.

Wedding Guidelines for Uttar Pradesh

  • The maximum number of people allowed at a wedding ceremony is currently capped at 100 for indoor ceremonies and 200 for outdoors.

  • Sec 144 imposed Gautam Buddh Nagar district; only 50% of venue capacity to be used. 

Wedding Guidelines for Madhya Pradesh

  • The maximum number of people allowed in a gathering is currently capped at 50.

  • There is to be a complete lockdown in Indore on Sundays.

Wedding Guidelines For Tamil Nadu

  • Recreation clubs can function only with 50% members. Besides, entertainment parks and large halls as well as parks can function only with 50% capacity. 

  • Weddings can be conducted with a maximum of 100 guests.

  • There will be no relaxations in containment zones and they will be under total lockdown.

Wedding Guidelines for Bihar

  • Weddings can be conducted with a maximum of 250 guests.

Wedding Guidelines for Jharkand 

  • Weddings can be conducted with a maximum of 200 guests.

Wedding Guidelines for Chhattisgarh

  • There is a daily night curfew in effect from 9 PM to 6 AM

Wedding Guidelines for Odisha

  • There is a daily night curfew in effect from 10 PM to 5 AM, which is for now indefinite.
